Experiencing.  Learning.  Networking.

The things we have to learn before we do them, we learn by doing them.   - Aristotle

A strong internship is the first step towards a great career.

The New York Arts Program is a great way to earn academic credits as you test out the city, build your resume with a valuable hands-on internship, network with professionals in your field, and establish friendships with students from colleges all over the country.  A New York Arts Program provides that first step in building an arts community - which is essential to being successful in the arts.

If you want the opportunity to gain experience for your future in the arts, the New York Arts Program makes sure you are provided with all of the resources you need to make your internship a successful and rewarding experience.

The New York Arts Program provides college students in the performing, media, and visual arts with the opportunity to intern in their field of study through our fall and spring internship programs.

The New York Arts Program has two main goals:

-  To provide advanced experience and knowledge in highly focused arts areas through the actual internship experience; and

-   To provide a broadened knowledge of all the arts as practiced in New York through the program’s seminar series and cultural program events.

Students accepted to the New York Arts Program apprentice with artists in the visual arts, performing arts, and the literary, film, and media arts; and through this involvement develop an understanding of the intentions, problems, and means of the arts as currently practiced in the urban multi-cultural world.

Founded in 1967, we are the original New York Arts Program.  Over 3000 participants have completed this unique program and over 800 sponsors have worked with our students. The program maintains student housing, offices, and staff at the program site in located in Manhattan, in the heart of Chelsea.

While maintaining your full-time student status at your college or university, your semester’s credits are earned through the New York Arts Program and are transferable through our mother college, Ohio Wesleyan University.  You will need approval from your home campus.  Our program is fully recognized by the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA).

The Great Lakes Colleges Association, Inc. is an academic consortium whose activities include the development and maintenance of off-campus programs that provide students special academic, experiential, and intercultural opportunities around the world in a wide range of studies.
